I just got my M&P 45acp, 4" barrel with Aimpoint, Acro P-2 milled by ATEI after waiting 5 months. I took it to the range this morning to sight it in and every round was a failure to feed. My reloads (Bayou Bullets, 200 grain SW cutter) hit the feed ramp and fail to feed. This is a new firearm and I am scheduled to take a Modern Samurai 2-day red dot class at the end of the month. I have another M&P exact same model with thousands of Bayou bullets through it without a hiccup. I need this problem like I need a hole in the head.

Do any M&P Armorers have any sage advice for me?
Thank You all in advance.

If it were mine the first thing I'd do it swap in the barrel from the Compact that works and see if the problem goes away. That gives you (temporarily) a pistol for the class and more info for S&W when you tell them you have a barrel problem.

Are the bullets lead or coated lead? In my opinion the coating helps with leading in the barrel but I can't say it should make them feed better.

Has the feed ramp been polished on the one that works?

Only lead I've shot through mine are the lead round nose and the flat nosed coated lead bullets. No issues. I have read some pistols can have feed issues with the SWC bullets.

Any time in the past when I've had a feed issue I felt was related to the feed ramp surface finish I've gotten out the dremel and polished them to a chrome bumper looking finish. Zero issues after that (CZ P01 Omega - jacketed hollow points and my wife's new Equalizer - jacketed hollow points). I have polished a couple others just because they looked ugly as could be and I figured polishing now beat having issues later.

Not sure how you feel about doing work like that on your own pistols but you can still send it back to S&W. Especially if swapping in the other barrel makes it work like the other pistol does.

Is your other M&P45 set-up exactly the same way with the same optic?

Are you using the same exact magazines that function correctly in the other M&P?

I'm in Dark Mode, and it took me a second to figure out your type was black.

My M&P is a 2.0 My other 2.0 45acp does not have an Aimpoint installed. I polished the feed ramp and used the recoil guide rod from the other M&P with thousands of rounds through it and it seems to be working fine now. Keeping my fingers crossed, plus I’m going to send some more rounds down range before my Modern Samurai Red Dot Course.

Sometimes it takes a little tweaking here and there. I've polished the feed ramps on three or four pistols over the years due to feeding issues (bullet nose into the feed ramps jams).

Glad you got it.
