is the guide rod tip stainless? i think im correct in saying that the rod itself is stainless. im asking because i removed the finish from my barrel and buffed it all up and love the look the little bit of the barrel sticking out and wanted to do the same thing to the guide rod. thanks

A quick and dirty test is to use a magnet, some stainless steels are not attracted to a magnet, if the guide rod isn't attracted to a magnet, it's most likely stainless, if it is, it may, or may not be.

I dont have an answer for ya, but post pics of your work so far

im new to imageshack so i hope this worked. and please remember this was done with two abrasive pads(not steel wool-heard bad things about this), and a really good all metal polish. it was really easy and i really like the results.

okay so I'm interested. I figured I'd start with fine scotch brite and oil, them move to the dremel buffing wheel and flitz. I think I just want to do the tip of the barrel so I won't have to spend as long. I like a black chamber too. If mine keeps polishing itself on the ramped front edge, I might polish that little part, but not the whole barrel just yet.

Thanks.
