M&P 15 with a Hakko 4x scope shooting 62gr Radway Green surplus ammo from prone position at 100 yards.

As you can see from the target, there is a lot of room for improvement
I know I'm capable of shooting better  the 55gr Winchester USA ammo I sighted in the scope with was better but certainly not anything to brag about.

Okay, I did a little more testing today with some other ammo and used my S&W 1500 Deluxe Heavy Barrel Varmint rifle as a baseline.

As you can see from the targets that the M&P 15 is capable of decent accuracy using .223 Rem ammo but sucks with 5.56mm.

From these results I'd have to say that the M&P 15 is a .223 Remington and not a 5.56mm.

Targets are 1 inch grid and groups were from 100yards from a sand bag rest.

My AR's favorite round so far seems to be remington epress 55gr soft points.

American eagle 62gr isn't bad either.

Ultramax was probably the wost performer bya long shot.

wolf 62gr wasn't bad, but winchester white box didn't perform well at all for me.

I went ahead and ordered more of the Federal American Eagle .223 mcbt since I now know that it will do close to 1 moa out of my M&P 15.

Now what the heck do I do with 600+ rounds of Radway Green?

Radway Green uses the SS109 steel penetrator projectile, this isn't very accurate by any manufacturer. If you really want to see what your rifle will do get some Black Hills 69gr or Federal Gold Medal 69gr BTHP.

Being new to AR type rifles and surplus ammo it kind of surprised me that any 5.56/.223 ammo would be that inaccurate

I picked up some 69gr. and 77gr. Sierra MatchKing bullets so I'll play around and see if I can find a load that will do 5 shot one hole groups.....the fun begins
