I was lucky enough to blast a rat in waters edge with my M&P 40 a couple days ago. Got him with a 165 grain Remington Golden Saber. It was cool about a 50 foot shot, It flew about a foot in the air. Went back with my 223 and wasted a few more. I'm going to try sneaking up on some more with the 40, It's a riot!

Rats can be hard to hit, my dad bought a commecial building that had been used for storing spices, there were a lot of really well fed rats in there! I thought I could pop some with a BB gun, they were running from one side of the aisle to the other, by the time you could react, they were already out of sight!

I live in a small town. Think the sign says population 475. Most of my plinking at varmints is near the creek at the edge of town. some times Cindy can here me burning up ammo from home.But it's not unusual to hear a little shooting in town. There are a couple really nice ranges in close driving distance.



I really like it here and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. But there are always a few residents I wish lived some place else. They move here for lower taxes, then complain because they don't have all the services they did where they came from. And b??ch because they hear a little gun fire. Bas??rds! When I was a kid we shot rabbits in every back yard in town, and the owners liked it. Guess I'm getting old. I like seeing kids blowing starlings out of the trees with there 22s. At least they aren't out tearing stuff up or doing drugs.

Now.. you guys are talking about actual "rats".... the rodent.. well that is not a very good description.. We are talking about the animal... umm.. the furry little thing that feeds on garbage... ummm.. that's not very good either...



What I am trying to say, is that you aren't out shooting DemocRATS I hope! That would be murder, and law enforcement does not favor the killing of people, no matter how liberal they are!!!! It's OK to not like them, but shooting them is a no/no!



Now if we are talking about the ground hunkering, bottom dwelling, scum sucking varmints that invade your home, chew on your garbage, and are a general nusiance... jeez... that sounds like a Democrat doesn't it??? I am talking about the animal.. not the political animal.. the actual animal...



I don't have Rats around my home.. but we do have nutria. I haven't tried shooting one with a .40... .22 seems to do the trick.
