Special THANK YOU to DGM33 for letting us borrow his Shield for the photo shoot.

Photographing the M&P Shield has really made me reconsider what I carry daily, which has been the S&W M&P 9 compact. When I am not carrying the 9c, I carry the Sig Sauer P238 Equinox in my pocket. This author thought it would be fun to compare the three guns using photography. It is not often that I consider changing carry guns because it requires getting used to a new gun, which takes a lot of time, energy, training and money to use it effectively. I would equate it to test driving a new car, it just feels weird when you first get behind the wheel.

The Shield is hot right now and for good reason. For the money, it is one of the smallest, most affordable sub-compact 9mm’s on the market. I see one in my future… Now for the porn.

Nicely done. I'll still have to carry my 9c cause I'm too poor to buy another one at this time. Definitely easier to conceal.

Thanks for the post.

I might eventually get a shield and dump my PF-9 which I rarely carry as a bug, but I'm not likely to downsize from a full size for EDC, unless I find myself needing to deeply conceal for some reason. I hope maybe WA will make campus carry legal for students and faculty. *cough*

Great comparison with pics. Thanks.

I just got back from the range about an hour ago with both my shield and 9c. I really like shooting both but the shield is my favorite. Showed up at the range, bought 100 rounds of 9mm and went to town. Had a great time and shot against my bro in law who has a G26. Nothing like a fun family outing.

Great review. I carry a G19 with/or a KT PF9....and maybe carry a M&Pc 9mm from time to time. However, this will change when I take the plunge and buy the Shield. I've shot both the M&Pc 9 and Shield at the range and the trigger on that Shield was much more like my Pro Series than it was the stock 9mm. Can't wait. Thanks!

(BTW- nice FDE mag release...)

I pocket carry either my M&P9c or my wife's M&P9 Shield, as all my pants are Cabela's 7 pocket hiker pants, with very large pockets. Neither prints and draw easily.
