Help please.

I have a S&W 38 cal. Revolver, Model 15-2, 6 shot, Nickle finish with over size grips. Model # K55----, I don't have any pictures availkable at this time.

Anyone know when it was made and a possible value of it. I bought it used in 1970, for LEO duty weapon. I was told that prior to me it was owned by either Indiana, State Police or Ill. State Police. It was originally a blue model but I had it nickel plated in the 70's. Its in great shape, the wheel is very tight. I probably only put 600 rounds through it since I owned it.

This gun was traded yesterday for my M&P 45 cal. """"""YES"""""""

Can't help on the year of the production but it has no value as a collector because it has been refinished. I would estimate that such a pistol, assuming it was a really, really good refinish, might be around $250 in my area (Oregon) but its going to be a slow seller.

Not trying to rag on your revolver, please understand, this is just what I see when something has been refinished. Still a great revolver through, I have one myself a 15 with no dash made in 1958.
