S&W Night Sight Pricing

3154 Views 14 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Landric
I called S&W today to ask about the trigger reset and get some pricing on night sights which are... drumroll please... $180. Just the front sight is $52.

For note, most Trijicons can be had for $80-90. The set for my P7 were $110 (given that the P7 is relatively esoteric). To send the M&P slide to ToolTech Gunsight and have them drill out the sights and throw in Trijicon glass tubes costs $150. Novak (the M&P uses the Novak design under license) will be making bar stock M&P sights in both the stock low profile and the standard (taller) Novak profile; they will be out in 3 weeks and cost $140.

Given that S&W is knocking these night sights out in full scale production, a price of $180 is about 50% over the point of being obscene.

yep, but some people will pay.

This is also a way of creating a demand for an aftermarket. :-$

WOW! After reading this, I'll pay the extra $90 my dealer is charging for factory night sights!
My M&P with 3 mags, factory night sights, and no mag safety or IL was $495. The version with standard sights and 2 mags (and the mag safety and IL) was $420. I'd say it was worth the extra $75.
Did you buy yours recently in the Triangle area? I'm down in Wilm, and would be happy to drive up there to visit my friends, and pick up a nicely priced M&P...

Best price I can find is mail order from Bud's guns, and the one with NS is about $490, plus the $25 shipping, then $25 FFL xfer fee...

We've got some local, but around $550 with no night sights (of course, that's before trying to bargain).

Thanks!

Yep, Lawmen's on Anvil Dr. in Raleigh. That was the price for the LE gun. If you are not LE, they are selling the standard version for $420, but no night sights. They had the LE versions in both 9 and 40 with the mag safety, I bought the only mag safety free pistol they had.

I went to their website, and it sure did look familiar...

Guess it doesn't count if my brother is LE? Probably not... Different state too... actually, Cincinnatti PD, where they have transitioned to the M&P 9mm already...

Lawmen's only sells to LE, no civilian sales...

That is not true actually. One is lead to believe that by the website, but they sell almost every gun in the store to anyone who can legally buy. The only weapons in the store that are LE only are the LE M&Ps. They have the regular version for $420, and they will sell it to you LE or not.

Got any friends that are NC residents in law enforcement, perhaps they could assist you. :)
I called them earlier today, and they said they will not sell to non-LE... the person I spoke with did not indicate that they in any way were interested in selling to non-LE, or that they had any product they could sell.

They did say that the pricing you mentioned was LE only... pricing from S&W specifically for LE...

I know Bud's Guns sells the non-night sight, no internal lock, magazine safety, for $426, plus $25 shipping, then the FFL fee on my side...
I just dropped by Trijicon's website - their listings for S&W are a bit confusing to me... Would any of these work for the M&P? Or are they going to need to make some special ones?

Strange. I don't know what whacko you talked to, but I promise you, they will sell you a gun. The only guns in the store that are LE only are the special M&Ps. I buy guns there all the time, and the M&P I bought Thursday was the first and only time that I had to show my LE ID. I have several friends who are not LE that have purchased handguns at Lawmen's.

No harm, no foul... but why is it so hard to find a good gun shop with no BS? THE reason I got an FFL back around the late '70s was due to the piss poor gun shops in Durham (back when I lived there). I went into one shop with money in hand ready to buy something, and no one seemed interested enough to make a sale to even acknowledge my presence...as I waited at the counter...

I have long since turned in my FFL though...

Brick and mortar stores of all types wonder why they are losing business to the internet--customer service...

I've got an extra $50 overhead by ordering over the internet--but I've got ZERO hassles...

Like I said, no harm no foul, but I've got absolutely no interest in doing business with Lawmen's now, especially not with PDHSC being in the same vicinity as Lawmen's, having a good internet/forum reputation, and certainly acting more interested in selling me something when I called them...

YMMV, etc... But thanks for your opinion and experiences...

I don't know. The only marking anywhere on them is "Novak" on the rear sight.
