Anybody know anything about the S&W 1000 series semi-auto shotguns??? I'm going to assume they are a rebadged "other" brand. I'm just curious what they are.

The 1000 series from the late 1970's to early 1980's was manufactured to S&W specs

by Howa in Japan.

From the S&W press release about the new 1000 series........

"The Smith & Wesson Elite Gold and Elite Silver Series of shotguns, as well as the new 1000 Series of semi-automatic shotguns, have been designed by Smith & Wesson and incorporate several pending patents. Because the series will be produced in facilities dedicated entirely to manufacturing Smith & Wesson shotguns, as opposed to private labeling, Smith & Wesson shotguns will be distinct and unique in the marketplace."

I'm hoping now that S&W owns Thompson/Center that S&W will come out with a line of rimfire

and centerfire rifles.

Model 1000 shotguns with "MFG IN JAPAN TO S&W SPEC" stamped on the barrel.
