John Sanchez from S&W dropped by yesterday with a few toys. I've shot AR's 'til I'm sick of them (not really) so I focused on the new pistol line.



All I can say is that in 500 rounds I didn't have a single malfunction. I even shot 9mm from the .40 magazine as a test. It worked.

Being a newbie, this makes no sense to me. Is this fellow saying that he can use 9mm cartridges in a .40 SW M&P?!



Or is hey saying that the .40 SW magazine will fit in the 9mm M&P with 9mm cartridges?



Could someone explain this to me?

I believe he is saying he used .40s&w mags, firing 9mm cartridges through a 9mm M&P. Its not really that uncommon, during the Clinton ban, many people were using .40 mags in 9mm pistols to get more than 10 rounds.

That's the way I would take it also. It goes without saying that you never try to shoot a 9mm cartridge in a pistol chambered for any other caliber.

You can get 18 9mm rounds into the 40 mag if anyone cares. The do function pretty well with one small problem it likes to lock the slide back with 1 round still in the mag although it is likely that, that could easily be fixed.

I wish the mags were not interchangable. The other day may son and I had the pistols out and one of the .40s got a full 9MM mag inserted. Good thing I double check everything because I think it would have fed the 9 into the .40 and functioned. I am not worried about the other way around because the .40 would not fit into the 9s chamber. I don't know what would happen if you chambered and fired a 9MM in a .40 chamber. Don't want to find out by accident. The mags have minor differences in the bodies but interchange and lock in to either cal pistol. I just put a .40 round in a 9MM mag and locked the mag in a .40 pistol and it fed fine. :?

you can't imagine how many 9mm's I have found from ranges that are belled out to .40 sizes.



They fire, but don't extract reliabily, and arn't accurate.

Do you know if there is any barrel damage due to fireing a 9MM from a .40? I am not talking about heavy usage just on or two by mistake.

no damage, I have acutally not done it, but my cousin who used to shoot comp has seen it done, and you just get a really inaccurate pistol, and no ejection.

Had a newbie load a .40S&W into a friend's 1911 one time. Same results as above.
