Years ago, I went back and forth on buying on eof those scandium framed 1911s. I've previously had a bad experience with an aluminum framed Kimber, and I have stayed away from any 1911 that didn't have a steel frame since.

But you guys with the scandium framed S&W 1911s.... How have they held up over the years? Just curious...

I used to have a Sc framed S&W 1911; a Gunsite Edition model with a serial number of “086.” It was a very good pistol, and the frame material caused no issues. That said; I have light weight Colt 1911s in Commander and Government models, and both have been trouble free. Same with a Sig 3.2 inch barreled 1911 with an alloy frame.

I could go on, but the bottom line is that I’ve owned many alloy framed pistols over the years; and the frame material never created any issues for me.

Only one (1) year "old" with over 4,000rds of 230gr freedom seeds, but no issues at all with the frame (or anything else for that matter) thus far. This one's a keeper for me...
