Is there a location to run a serial number for a Smith and Wesson pistol? I want to confrim ownership before I think about purchasing.

I would doubt S&W could tell you the current owner. The most I'd expect from them would be who the distributor was that purchased the firearm.



Neither Ford nor Chevrolet can tell you who is the current owner of an auto based on the VIN, right?

The Police or the BATF may be able to but I don't think they'd do it without a court order.
