I have a gen1 Shield 9mm that is 100% reliable and has a Crimson Trace red laser on it. I'm using it as my home defense weapon with an 8+1 capacity.

I have a Sig P365-380 as my main carry piece. I carry 12 +1 Speer Gold Dots in it and don't feel undergunned when carrying it. It conceals well with both an OWB and IWB holster.

With the current Smith and Wesson discounts I'm tempted to buy a new 13 round Shield Plus. The trigger on my 380 is really nice and I've read the Shield Plus trigger is top notch. If the P365 9mm trigger is like my 380 trigger I'd be happy with it.

Since the Shield Plus should work in the gen1 Shield holsters I have and a P365 9mm should work with the P365-380 holsters I currently have, I'm torn as to which gun to get.

This being an M&P forum I'm sure it'll be biased. But, which would you buy if you were in my position? It will be used as a second carry gun. Both are close enough in size and magazine capacity that those are not a factor in my decision.

I'm currently leaning towards the Shield Plus since it's said to have a nice trigger, should be reliable and is $50 to $100 less depending on the model, with a $50 discount on top of that.

My son has a new P365XL, and his wife has a new Shield Plus.

For me, the Shield just feels better in my hand. I haven't fired the Shield, but the SIG was OK - though it's shooting left with the sights centered for some reason.

The Shield Plus has a much better feel to the grip for me, and doesn't want to rotate left/right like the original Shield.

If they made a Shield Plus in .45 I'd buy it, and carry it instead of my Compact, which can be a bit hard to conceal in the summer months.

Interesting to see this thread, as I just rented a SIg 365 yesterday, and I was considering posting a thread on it...

It was interesting to shoot it head to head with the Shield Plus. Recoil between the 2 was close. But surprisingly enough, it was a tiny bit less on the Sig 365. I did not expect that.

It shot decently. I shoot better with the Shield Plus, but it was not too different. I also have 3 Shield Plus guns, with over 2000 rounds total (between all 3).... This was the first time I ever shot the Sig.

I do prefer the feel of the Shield Plus, as well as the trigger, though.

I am trying to find something else because the Glock 42 I recently bought is just not reliable. I would like a front pocket gun... And, I want something better than my 1st gen Ruger LCP.

The Sig 365 in 380 seems like a good idea (for what I want - it is lighter than the 9mm version). But, I've read some posts on other forums that is somewhat similar (in reliability) to what I experienced with the G42. I don't know if I want to risk another small 380 - the 9mm 365 is supposed to be more reliable.

I've already wasted money on that Glock. IF I buy a 365, it will be in 9mm....

And, the Ruger 380 MAX has a ton of complaint posts on various forums. I want to replace my gen 1 Ruger LCP, but I don't think the Ruger Max is worth the risk. Some people claim that they have sent theirs back to Ruger multiple times...

The 9mm Sig 365 does pocket carry in my jeans. But, I will admit that it is a bit of a stretch. And, it's only 3 ounces lighter than my Shield Plus. I CAN pocket carry my Shield Plus in my jeans with the 10 round mag, but I'll be honest - it's too big and heavy for that. It fits, but is not very practical.

At the gun store, I put a G42 on top of the 365. It is about the same dimensions - except the 365 is thicker.

I MIGHT get one in 9mm soon. Not sure yet...

I currently carry the shield plus and it shoots extremely well and after 2000 rounds I have yet to have a ftf or feel issue. I trust it and have bought the 15 round magazine for the equalizer. It just seems to be built very well compared to others I have tried. If I were to buy It again I would go with the Performance Center version. Hope this helps...

I have a Shield plus in 9mm and a Shield in 40.. I also have a P365. Probably a better deal with the M/P right now with the rebate. All are 100% reliable.

I own both, actually three; Shield Plus, P365-X, and a P365 SAS.
I don’t care for the red dot on the X, though I do like the clean slide top on the SAS. I also have a Wilson Grip Module on the SAS.

I’m going to shoot the Shield 9 Plus at IDPA BUG practice next Thursday. I honestly can’t remember if I’ve shot it yet or not; but probably not, since I haven’t carried it yet.
All three of these, plus a couple more, are only used as my “when the backs out bad” carry guns.

My regular carry guns are 4 1/2” Caniks, 4 1/4” M&P9s, or any of several 1911’s

I also have an older Kahr CM9 that’s an incredible shooter for it’s size, and it’s never had any malfunctions; even during the recommended 200 round break-in. That said; it’s only a six or seven round gun.

I can tell you that my old PC Shield 9 shot really well; but only you can decide which one you like better. Good luck in your search!

I have both and like both. Both are great guns. I say, go to the range and shoot both and YOU decide which one you like. Just because 1 person likes 1 over the other does not mean you will have the same experience or preference.

I have both and shoot the Shield Plus better, faster and more accurately. I’ve taken full-day defensive pistol classes and could hang with other shooters using full-size pistols.

I like the P365 for its versatility and configurability. It’s fun to shoot and has a lot of potential. It can be smaller/lighter than the Shield Plus with equal capacity or go to a 17-round grip to match a full-size pistol.

I shot both side-by-side today at an indoor range. I have a Shield 1.0 and my buddy that I shoot with has a 365. I wanted to see how they compared for myself since they seem to be talked about and compared frequently on forums. I shot both of them pretty well from 9 out to 21 feet. Both handled well and felt comfortable to me. I would be fine carrying either one as a concealed SD weapon. But I wouldn't trade my Shield for a 365.

Having said that, here's what I noticed about the two of them...

1) I liked the 3-white dot sights on my Shield better than the green dot front sight on the 365. I don't think that's the standard iron sight on 365's, but that's what's on the one I shot. I was able to acquire, and re-acquire, the target with my Shield quicker than I did on his 365 for follow-up shots.
2) The mag ejection on the 365 seemed soft to me. Using a 12-rnd mag in the 365, I had to pull it out to clear it from the gun. The Shield's 8-rnd magazines both ejected and cleared with just a button push. Not a big deal at the range, but in a SHTF setting (which is what the gun is for, of course) a fast reload could be the difference between...
3) Both guns felt good in hand. I was able to get a firm grip on each of them even with my arthritis and my old, insensitive hands. Recoil was easily manageable on both. Both triggers were comfortable to use.

The best advice I could give any potential buyer is try them both and get the one that you shoot better. I don't think you'd go wrong with either one as far as the gun is concerned.

I have both the 365 and Shield Plus...actually have a 365 and a 365XL. There are days I carry the Plus as my primary with either a j-frame or LCP Max as backup, but there are plenty of days (like today) where my primary is my 365XL and my front pocket backup is my 365 (both 9mm's). I have magazine compatibility and duplicate operations. If I had to choose I would go with the 4" Shield Plus if I could only have one. I bought my Plus simply as a pocket carry and it wants more time...guess I'll have to get the 4" version now!

Yes, it is not reliable enough. About 8 malfunctions in 277 rounds. Now, 38 rounds of JHP worked, but I had multiple issues with various FMJ rounds. I tried different brands too. And, after spending almost $200 in ammo, I give up on it. I gave it to my son, actually. He was happy to have it. If it keeps having issues, I'll send it to Glock for him. But, I gave up on it.
