this afternoon. Had my Ruger P345 and Blackhawk with 45 AP cyl along for comparison. Bad first, trigger rough and heavy, will shoot it for 2 or 3 thousand rounds then fix that, and loading the 8,9, and 10th rounds in the mag is very rough! The good, accuracy very good, as good as both Rugers, which are great. Recoil is the best of any auto 45 I've shot ( Ruger P90, P345, XD 45 Tactical ,Taurus PT 1911) Really, really like this gun, cancelled orders for Taurus PT 1911 and 24/7 OSS in 45 ap. Great pistol! 8)

 Glad to hear you like it.

I checked with my Gun Dealer and they received 3 Black M&P 45's, but I have a Dark Earth one on order and I hear it might be awhile. If thats the case I just might head out to get the Black one. I don't want to wait any more than I have too. Getting to old to damm quick. hahaha. I still have my M&P 40 cal and love it.

Update, 5-14-07 Couldn't wait any longer. I bought a black model. Nite sights and 3 mags came with it. Got my LEO discount. Great deal.

Congrats on you M&P .45. I got one as well, it too is black w/ no manual safety, mag disconnect or lock. I put 150 through it and sent it off for a trigger job. Mine was brutal, about 7.5lbs. Despite that, I could tell the thing is capable of very accurate fire.

where for the trigger job and what's the turn around time?

Sent my MP9 off to Dan Burwell a while ago and love his work. Turn around was QUICK. Sent gun off during lunch on Monday and had it back Thursday night. Clean break at 4# when measured at the center of the trigger. Bowie Tactical also does work, but I have no personal experience with his work, but many here have positive experiences with is work.

M&P 45

Hello Everyone, I stopped at Wal-Mart this morning and splurged by purchasing two 100 round boxes each of Winchester 45's, 40's and 9mm's on the way to the range.

I think the clerk thought I was going to open a store or something, but didn't say anything.

I wanted to several rounds through all three pistols to put them through their paces by comparomg each other as to recoil, reliability, trigger, accuracy at 20, 35 and 50 and 75 foot and comfort.

This morning was one of those very few times when you have the whole range to yourself except the range officer.

The 9 and 40 have about 500 rounds through them and the 45 only about 100. Triggers on the 9/40 have smoother out considerably and are now much more fun to shoot. The 45 is stiff and very heavy (I think more so than the other two when they had a similar number of rounds through them). Recoil was fantastic on all three with the 40 winning out. As a matter of fact the 40 is my favorite of the three.

Reliability was the same with all three being perfect. Accuracy was pretty much equal up to 40 feet then the 45 started droping off a little bit, but I was able to keep all three pistols inside a 6" circle with no problem up to75 feet. Results: 20'---all three 21/2" circle. 30'----All three guns 4" circle, 40'---All three guns, 5" circle and 75' ---All three inside a 6" circle.

For a lot of you thats not very good shooting, but for me and my abilities woth new guns and not really broken in yet I'm tickled pink and have no doubt with more range time the M&P's triggers and accuracy will dramatically improve.

Conclusion: I think they're great pistols and will only improve. My 45 is black with manual safety only and as soon as the parts become available to install the manual safeties on the 9c and 40c they will have them as well.

Thanks and lets hear your range results.

Jim
