Talk about the ultimate compliment!

I called S&W to check on the status of our range bags and mentioned that I was new to pistols and had been asking a lot of questions on the M&P forum.

The rep I spoke with said that he reads the forum routinely and also had great words of praise about Mr. Burwell's magic when I asked about reducing the trigger pull.

When I asked about use of snap-caps, he was aware of the Broken Striker thread and suggested that while snap caps were good, range shooting was better.

I think it's simply awesome that S&W considers this forum key to their community relations when it comes to the M&P.

Incidently, the rep had one of their techs go over a Burwell-modified trigger job on an M&P and found that it was indeed well-done and posed no problem for them when it came to modifications.

I was hoping that the rep would have a recognizable handle, but alas, he just lurks, but still, that's saying quite a lot about his dedication to his job and the quality of this forum and its members.

It would be wonderful if S&W did eventually participate in forum discussions through a representative on this forum, however, I can see how that could get out of control and cause dissention among other forum owners, "Why them and not us?"

But the fact that they do read and keep up with the topics warms my heart. I'm even happier with my purchase, if such could even be considered possible, knowing that S&W truly does care and takes the time to listen in on what we have to say.

Bravo!

That is great! I think that forums are a huge and largely untapped resource for a lot of big name manufacturers. Everything you could ever want to know (the good, bad, and the ugly) is usually laid out in various forums. It is perfect for manufacturers to find issues beyond those pointed out by servicing warranty work. It also gives them a direction to look for improvements without a million dollars in marketing research.

I can understand why they only lurk though, if they were to register and post it could be construed as them trying to manipulate public opinions through dishonest or not entirely genuine means.

Now, if they posted under the name of "S&W Rep" or something similar...that's a whole other story. A truly nice touch of some smaller companies is that they have a representative that posts on the forum, and participates in discussion (here's lookin' at you i-Shot!). It shows that they REALLY care about their customers, and its that human contact that makes a corporation seem less of an evil conglomerate, and more of an enthusiast about whatever it is they do and contribute to. The liability of this is that most conversation is not cut and dry and a lot on forums is opinions, so if a Rep makes a comment in a thread it may be his individual opinion and not the companies position, and that could be more liability then S&W is willing to take, and understandably so.

ANYWAYS, it is fantastic to hear that, and I want S&W to know I lloooooveeee my M&P! You hit the nail on the head with this product!

I know for certain of at least three different S&W employees that I have conversed with both via email and phone that say they lurk around here I am certain there more.

In today's market so many people use the Internet to research their purchases small or large that it is really necessary to monitor the forums to see what people are saying about your product or services. It also pays of in finding out what changes people would like to see.

I too would say Kudos to S&W for keeping an eye on us, tell me they care about this product.
.357 M&P

I also know of 3 atleast. I actually know which rep you talked to.

I know of some of the engineers lurk.

So, I may as well get my shots in too....

Hey now ... Let's not abuse this privileged knowledge!

With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility!

This forum alone has given me the confidence not only to purchase my M&P9, but to recommend the M&P to many of my friends and colleagues.

Knowing that S&W is listening makes me all the more confident in my purchase, recommendations, and personal satisfaction.

I sincerely hope they realize just how much their products mean to us, and that we're happy to provide them whatever feedback they require to ever improve their production of our favorite pistol!

Thank you S&W for my favorite handgun! The M&P 40.
Dan, have they ever chatted with you personally about your trigger job?

Yes, and I know some of them have shot at least one gun I worked over. I'd rather not get into details about my contact with them other than what I said above, as I would not want to jeapordize any future contact.
I understand.
Yes, they "DO" Know bout this board.

I forwareded the Link to the preson I work with there when I first joined, they were very happy that there was a dedicated M&P Board.

They know they have a winner with the M&P line.
M&P Stainless (not blackened)

S&W rules. The more I read and hang out here, the more evident that becomes.

I don't think Smith is interested in poor sellers. Only caliber worse than .357 is 10mm.

Alot of companies are just now tapping the power of the net. I recently read an article about American Airlines has employees to read forums and blogs to head off any negative publicity. Some are hiring PR firms to promote them on the web, so when you search, all you see is positive feedback.
