Smith & Wesson quarterly earnings rise

Smith & Wesson Holding Corp. was likewise on the downside aftermarket, with shares giving up 64 cents, or 4.6 percent, to $13.13 in late trading, from their Nasdaq close at $13.77, after the gun maker reported disappointing October quarter results.

The Springfield, Mass., company beat Wall Street expectations for sales in its fiscal second quarter but fell short on profit, and offered guidance that roughly matched analyst projections for the year. The late session slump came despite a rosy outlook for 2008 that surpassed analysts' estimates.
