Hey Fellow M&P Owners--My first novel has been published by Prepper Press! It's an action/survival story set amidst a devastating plague. Good survival lessons are built in, but its a great read first and foremost. As a bonus, the M&P plays a strong role as the protagonist's sidearm. (Full disclosure--the weapon is referenced as a Smith and Wesson in .357SIG...it was considered too much detail to say "M&P" but I promise you that is what the character is carrying!)

You can visit Amazon for a full description...it's available in paperback and Kindle.

Amazon.com: Brushfire Plague (9780615645643): R.P. Ruggiero: Books

or visit Brushfire Plague | Surviving the plague was only the beginning… as well.

Thanks for your support!

Congrats on the book.

But you posted it to an M&P Forum, so you're gonna get scrutinized! LOL.

Why would your protagonist choose a 357Sig as a survival weapon, with almost ZERO ammo availability!

thanks!

The main character isn't a survivalist, so it is what he had on hand. But, I think the .357SIG is a good round given its penetration capabilities.

It won't spoil things to tell you his friend in the book is a survivalist so he teaches the main character (and readers) some lessons.

Thanks guys. I'm very excited about it. I've been an avid reader in this genre my entire life and feel that Brushfire Plague is a good addition. It allowed me to combine my passions of writing, firearms, and being prepared all in one!

If/when anyone here reads it, I'd love to know what you all think of it.

I just received an email from a reader that basically said, "I found this book riveting and it made me want to go out and buy a gun"!

Now don't take this wrong. It's just a friendly question.:smoke: Are the survival parts based on actual real survival skills and facts that can actually be used in real life or .....??? Just wondering.

Sounds like a good read.

Good question. I've included lessons from my experience or those from established experts in the field. However, the book is really a solid action/survival novel with engaging characters with lessons woven in to help people think about survival and/or preparing. It is not "heavy" on that front, like Joe Nobody's or J.W. Rawles' works, for example. They've covered that angle very well. The novel also does a lot with the dynamics of a group of neighbors trying to figure out how to handle different situations; which I think is sometimes neglected when people think about prepping. Very useful lessons are included there, I believe.

Thanks for the interest.

The reason I ask. My wife has been gathering a library of knowledge on all kinds of survival info for almost every situation under the sun. She's also an avid reader and I think would enjoy reading (she has a kindle), your book and recommending it to our friends to "light a fire under their arses" to the what ifs.

Over (my many years growing up in the outdoors),I've had TONS of actual hands on survival training ranging from the Boy Scouts to Military. To teaching Boy Scouts and Military to live off the land with just bare esentuals and scrounging.

I think the Brushfire Plague would serve your wife's interest in this genre of fiction very well...and be useful to getting others interested in preparing. The reader who sent me that comment was decidedly not "prepared"! But, it now has her thinking.

It is available on Kindle. If she does read it, let me know what she thinks!

Best,
R.P.

first professional review!

“This is a fast-paced novel for anyone who loves action/adventure coupled with likable/believable characters. I have a son, and the main character’s courageous efforts to save his son’s life resonated with me. The deadly plague has a story of its own that keeps the reader thinking on multiple levels. Recommended!”

Fellow M&P'ers--if you are inclined, and easy way to help me spread the word is to visit Amazon and simply click the "like" button....that helps other shoppers looking at similar books to see it.

Amazon.com: Brushfire Plague (9780615645643): R.P. Ruggiero: Books

And, posting the link on other forums helps a lot. More 'professional' reviews will start coming in over the next few weeks...but i've seen that the 'regular guy' posts on other forums creates a lot of traffic too.

thanks!
