Mine was like that.... I "pin" the edge of it against the edge of a desk and give it a little bump on the grip to get it started.... same thing to get it to pop out once twisted. I guess I would rather it be tight than fall out while shooting somehow
There's really no reason to remove it except to change backstraps, when I'm cleaning my M&P I use the Mark 1 index finger to depress the little lever, works just fine! If you are cleaning you usually have tools out anyway, but it's just easier to use your finger.
