I am not sure exactly what to call it but it is the rod that holds the backstrap on. I thing i messed mine up when io first got it and it has been having a tendancey to fall out when i am at the range. So i am looking to get a new one. Any one know where i would get one other than calling the mothership?

You never know, the mother ship might even send you one for free. Doesn't hurt to ask.

Thats a great link, you have to love Brownells...

I emailed the mothership
And they are beaming me one out
Be nice just to not look like a moron when it drops out. Besides that it is wonderful. I got it back From having the mag drop prob fixed, went to the range the next day to qualify and shot a 276 out of 300 after i had been shooting the 40c for 3 weeks. I love my M&P

I hate to ask this at the risk of sounding stupid, but "mothership" WTH is that?

That's odd, I have to pry mine out :?:
I believe he's saying he buggered it up taking it out, mine was tight but not too bad, but some seem to be extra tight, and the first time you try to take it out you don't really know what you're doing, a potential trap to bugger one up, luckily the factory is generous, and even if they weren't, it's an inexpensive part.
I have a little trick for getting the tight ones out. Take your mag, flat side of base down, and use it to turn it the quarter turn. Then it should just pull out with fingers, if not use the mag again to push down on it.
I might mention that once you have the backstrap that fits your hand the best, there's really no need to remove it after that, I just push the little lever down with my finger, if your finger won't fit, use the cleaning rod or a small screwdriver, you're going to have that out anyway if you are cleaning the pistol.
