That XCR is a really nice rifle. It sounds like what used to require a good 700 action, a good gunsmith and lots of moola to get such a rifle.

From the list of features, I don't know of any other factory rifle which would compete with the XCR.

I love my xcr chambered in 7mm rem mag, it is extremely accurate (much more than me) and is one of my deer rifles. I have it and a stainless/laminate Ruger mark II which is also a 7 mag for open field hunting and use a tc encore or my marlin 30 30 for my brush gun.

Actually I have no idea as to why? Until this year I hunted in NW Mo where it was common to take a 400 yd shot at a deer, now where I hunt it is rare to take a shot more than 200 yds....although I blew that figure away with a shot at a doe this year off the top of the escort, it was a good vitals shot and an instant kill, but I will never take a deer at that distance again...in fact I am pretty ashamed I did this time. Other than that my family hunts with a lot of 7mm mags, so mine fits in. I also like the idea that I can take it to Colorado and hunt whatever I choose without having to worry about being underpowered.
