I've noticed more than one picture of an M&P9 with a can on it, one was posted along with the new pics of the M&P.45. My question is if these are aftermarket or factory barrels? Will S&W ever offer this for the .45?

I have been holding out on buying a XD.45 because noone makes a threaded barrel for it. My only options for .45 suppressor hosts right now are to stick to my 1911, get a Glock 21, Sig 220, or some HK tactical or Mark23. I like the 1911 more than the Sig, so I wouldn't switch to that, which leaves me with a Glock or an HK for suppressor hosts, both of which I don't really like in .45.

Why does it have to be so hard to find a hi-cap .45 that is made in America, and can be had with a threaded barrel???Sorry to have such a rambling first post, just venting

I know waiting can be extremely hard but if I were you I'd hold off buying any 45ACP until after SHOT show. I'm sure that once the M&P45 hits the market someone will offer a threaded barrel.

Hey M4!

Yeah, I thought that about the XD.45 as well, but so far no joy, and how long has it been out? Look at how popular the sales have been, and still no joy!. Seriously, I would like to be able to buy whatever platform I like, but in reality, I don't want to be stuck with a pistol I like that I can't suppress. That would seriously drive me up the wall.

FYI I did some research and Springfield Custom Shop will provide an extended match barrel for their 4" XD45s. I Also called S&W Performance, and they said that they weren't willing to do any custom barrels for any of the M&P linup. When I asked where they got the barrels for their suppressed M&P9's they wouldn't give me an answer. I will see what others like EFK, KKM, and Jarvis have up their sleeves at SHOT. Hopefully someone will actually help S&W cater to the suppressor market seeing that they don't have any plans for helping themselves.

If you find a weapon you want that doesn't have a threaded barrel I would suggest you give my friend Steve at Adcofireams.com a try. He has threaded other barrels for suppressor use.
