WOW! I went to the range today, and... WOW! If anyone in the Houston area would like to try it out... I don't mind. It makes it easy to point-shoot-point-shoot without to much effort.

The ACOG makes your AR a whole new animal. A sexy animal... with a cool scope

Only sad thing is that when I was there, my scope was worth more then most of the other people's rifles

LOL

Dude, it was a thrill to actually shoot with it. It is by far better then any Eotech i've used/seen, and makes shooting the rifle a breeze at longer distances. It might not have the tacticool bonus that traditional red dot scopes have, but with the first use, you can see why the military choose it over the tacticool choices.

My little brother used an eotech while in Irag and liked it more than aimpoint, I used aimpoint while in Iraq and was much more happier with iron sights

I've had my Aimpoint for less than a week and I'm already considering selling it. I just have no need for a red dot optic on my AR - too bad it took the purchase of an EOTech 553 and ML2 to realize that. Iron sights are more than sufficient for the shooting I do with AR's which 99% of the time is under 200yds. The other **** just gets in the way of the irons.

thats why you get flip up sights dead on at 150 and get the ACOG at 200+

I would never shoot my AR out to 200+, though. My 11.5" AR is for up close rapid firing at ****. I have a threaded bolt action .223 coming Monday for 200+ stuff that I want to put little tiny holes in with .223.

Well thats the difference from the air force and the army my friend. When we go to the range our targets go out to 300 meters.. Thats 2 dunkin donuts and a burger king to you air force guys

I shoot right handed and am left eye dominant. I can only shoot both eyes open if I use a red dot sight. For me, an ACOG, Aimpoint or Eotech is a great asset. I wish I would have had the Micro on my shotgun back when I did a lot of bird hunting, it would really have improved my results.

We'd just call a crew bus/van to come pick us up and take us out that far...

Do they make an ACOG thats NV? And if not, do they make NV that works well in

conjunction with the ACOG? I'm sure it doesn't matter but I'm getting the ACOG with

the doctor sight mounted above it as long as its either available in night vision or

will work well with it. I just want to avoid having to swap out optics if at all possible.

If worse comes to worse the night vision comes first. 8)

This is an interesting comment. I just started considering an optic and I checked out a EOTech 552 at a gun show recently. Looked very good. I don't anticipate shooting my 15Tat 200 yards or more, just maybe 100 to 150 yards at the local range and just for fun.

I'd like to consider an ACOG too but the investment is higher.

Uhhh.. Since the ACOG is magnifying, you can't cowitness sights with it. You want something for close range, you can either choose the acog with doctor/jpoint/firepoint/optima mount, or the acog with backup iron sights (sort of) built into the top.

Personally I REALLY want a meopta 1-4 with the k-dot reticle. That is some sweet glass, and witha quick twist you can either use it pretty much like a red dot, or use it pretty much like a 4x acog.

Still a bit out of my price range at about $740 though.

NO ACOG is NV compatible so what you have to do is mount the NV device in front of it.
