Anyone have any experience with this ammo? Our local Dicks Sporting goods carries it for $39.00 for a box of 200 rds. It's LRN. Curious if it's clean, jams, etc. I have a weekend course coming up where I will need 1000 rds. so I'm looking for anything. Our local walmarts carry very little if any WWB.

Junk, stay away, it's not worth risking your pistol!

Ultramax quality control, or lack thereof, this is the kind of thing that blows up guns:

Ammunition Review & Reference, listed by order of quality as determined by user reports, note Ultramax is near the bottom of the quality barrel, this is for 223 ammo, but the quality control relates to the brand in general:

i respectfully disagree with G56. i've purchased ultramax for my .223 AR and for my .40s. i have not experienced any such quality control issues that are evidenced in his photos. it has always gone bang when chambered and the trigger pulled. i would purchase and shall purchase it again.
I got mine at Dick's and shot last weekend.

If the .40s are like the 9s they are lead bullets with a mix of different once fired brass. My cost per 50 in the 250 round bulk box was $6.99 and all went bang. I thought is was accurate for me. Its smoky and a little on the dirty side but not much different than others.

I will also buy this ammo again.

Good luck.

It's not just my personal opinion, in the Ammunition Review & Reference 19% of actual users had enough problems with it that they won't even use up what they have left, and it's been proven to have destroyed several AR15's, if you want to risk your weapon, and risk personal injury, it's certainly your own choice, but considering it's track record, I wouldn't.

Ultramax satisfied users 71%

Had so much trouble they won't use it again 19%

Well I had a ton of shooting to do this past weekend and WWB was hard to come by so I bought a box of Ultramax in .40, 180 gr. conical lead nose. I got a 250 round box for 39.99. Every round went boom. No problems. I shot a total of 1100 rds. (850 rds. WWB)and not one problem. The Ultramax was visibly dirtier when shooting and of course left some fouling, but I think I would try it again.
Your per 50 cost is about $7.99 That is really good.

I shoot the Ultramax but I have flashbacks to shooting my muzzleloader when I do so
