Went to my local dealer to buy a 9mm PC EZ model for my wife. They have the gold finished models on sale for $463 after the $75 rebate it would cost $388 plus tax, not a bad deal. I bought one, and when they opened the sealed box and removed the chamber flag, all the gold finish was rubbed off? A fluke, not quite, they got another gun and it was even worse. The demo gun also was pretty much the same. I gave up after seeing three bad finished guns. I'm going to another dealer tomorrow who has black finished models, and hope to find a decent gun.

One of the know-it-all salesmen told me this happens with cerakote finishes, I said fine, but this is titanium nitride. and should be a lot better on wear.

Yea, that shouldn't be that way. Sorry you had that experience.

The gold finish rubbing off would seem to be an improvement, lol. ;)

I agree, but the gold model was the only one on sale, with thumb safeties. All the other models were full price. I did find another dealer that was only $20 higher and have a silver model on the way. Just plain old polished stainless.

The sad part is titanium nitride (the gold finish) is supposed to make the parts more wear and heat resistant. Cycling the slide once shouldn't make a scratch, and surely not flake off. We have endmills with this coating, and even after long use it doesn't flake off. That's the problem with no skilled craftsmen in today's world. We can't get hardly any machinists to even apply at my work, few and far between.

Well, the good news is we finally got one!!!! Basic black, Performance Center model, I already cleaned it and polished the ramp. The ramp was already pretty good, but some Flitz and a Dremel does wonders. We also mounted her light/laser on it, not enough time to get to the range this weekend, taking both PC pistols next weekend.
