It seems there is a lot of questions about how hard it is or how long it takes to field strip the M&P; so I made an attempt at making a video.

Okay… first off I am not a video editing type person and this is the first time I have made and posted a video. It’s not great quality but I had to get it down to a usable size.

First time I did it; it was 245MB
but now it is 3MB

It shows the field stripping and reassembly of the M&P .40.

1. Magazine removal.

2. Check to see that weapon is clear.

3. Pull slide back and engage slide stop.

4. Flip down the sear deactivation lever in the magazine well.

(I used my little finger; if your fingers are to fat you will need to use the tool that is in the grip.)

5. Rotate down the take-down lever.

6. Remove the slide.

7. Remove the recoil spring from the barrel

8. Remove the barrel from the slide.

Reverse for reassembly. Just make sure the Recoil spring is seated properly. Inserting the magazine kicks the sear deactivation lever back up.

Great video. My field stripping looks just like that EXCEPT for the removal and replacement of the barrel. It just seems like it wants to fight me at that point. No where near as smooth and quick as you're doing it. :?

There are detailed pics in the manual that show exactly what I was doing. I just did it to show those that don’t have the M&P and are questioning how long it takes to field strip and reassemble the M&P.

(48 seconds)

thanks for the video, this is my 1st pistol and the manual was not clear about pulling the slide completely to the rear when reassembling (it seems clear reading it now, but "fully" to the rear didn't equate to that far back for some reason! )

I did a few practice runs, it takes me probably a minute and a half, but my fat fingers require getting the tool out and using it

thanks again! and a bump for the new guys like myself 8)

The combination of both is GREAT. True the first one doesn't show the angles someone like me wanted to see but with both of them it's GREAT. I was hoping someone would post this. Maybe YOUTUBE is next. Already found one for cleaning a 1911

Excellent rebuttal to those that think the MP is difficult to field strip!
