I ship all my pistols via United States Postal Services cheaper and less hassel
may be less hassel now but wait till ya get caught unless your a Licensed ie manufacture of firearms or FFL Dealer

illegal for the non licensed to ship pistols via USPS. shotguns and rifles are ok

from the post office website

What is required to mail a shotgun or other firearm to a family member?

Handguns may be mailed by a licensed manufacturer or dealer of firearms or an authorized agent of federal government.

Although unloaded rifles and shotguns not precluded are mailable, mailers must comply with the Gun Control Act of 1968, Public Law 90-618, 18 USC 921, et seq., and the rules and regulations promulgated thereunder, 26 CFR 178, as well as state and local laws.

For further advice on mailing a specific item, you should contact:

The nearest office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF)

The Mailing Requirements area of your local Post Office™ facility.

I agree with Mr. Apathy

Only FFL holder can legally ship complete firearms by USPS.

So, if you are not an FFL holder, and USPS lost your package, then you got a lot of explaining to do.

But then again I was told by someone here USPS dont generally scan or check the content other than the standard questions they ask at the counter.

So, ship at your own risk by USPS, if you dont hold a FFL license.

Posselaw,

The reason for MrApathy and mine post is not to say that you are doing something illegal.

It is just to clearify to all reader of this forum that "Not Everyone is Eligible" to ship firearms, especially the M&P Pistol via USPS.

Your original post without and insights on your situation can miss lead some people.

S&W has the best customer service,, check this out.

I had some ramping problems with the 40.

2 hours after dealing with Customer Service FedX is at my door with a box and a label. The guy is standing in my kitchen when the gun box goes into the Fed X box. He doesnt say a word and takes the box, affixes the label onto it and away it goes.

UPS doesnt do home pickup where FEDX does. If the problem is eggregious S&W will authorize pickup at your house.

The gun is inspected and fixed and returned via UPS over night.

I was totally impressed with the customer service. A great company to invest in via the NASDAQ at $13.41 per share... It's cheap and I bought a ton of shares recently. What better way to support a company you put your trust in? They just had a great quarter.
