What do you do?

Hi, I was wondering what others do when they go somewhere that they can't carry. Somewhere like the post office, a place of worship, or a school. How do you store in your car? If this has been posted before please point me in the right direction. Thank you in advance.

I do my best not to go anyplace I can't carry. I'm old/retired. Kids are old enough to have kids. I let my wife go in the post office for me.

If I have to go to the courthouse I take the gun with me and put it, in the holster, and the spare mag. under the car seat. Not sure anyone is stupid enough to break into my car sitting right in front of the courthouse.

Around here we can conceal carry when we go vote, can't open carry, but I don't do that if I'm off my property anyway.

So far I've never run into a place (restaurant, store, etc.) that has told me I can't conceal carry inside. Then again, if I'm doing it right, they shouldn't know I'm carrying. With knees like I've got I spend most all my walking time looking at the ground to make sure I don't trip on something or step off the sidewalk, into a pothole, etc. No time to read signs unless I put on the right glasses and stop in front of the door to look/read amongst all the junk most places have stuck to their windows.

Just renewed the license on my Coupe for 2 years - on the internet. Our state charges you more if you walk into a DMV (where you can't legally carry anyway) to renew.

I personally don't pay attention to "No Firearms" signs as I'm carrying concealed, not trying to impress anyone by flashing my firearm, don't draw attention to myself, and don't act like a Karen.

The only places I wouldn't carry are at local grade schools, federal buildings, and into a LE agency without asking first.

I also don't wear shirts emblazoned with political statements ("Don't Tread On Me" or "2nd Amendment Patriot"), have any type of decals or stickers on my vehicles (Protected by S&W, NRA member) or wear tactical costumes as though I'd just returned from behind the lines in Afghanistan though seeing others dress like that makes me laugh.

I wish to appear as nondescript as possible and keep my ego/macho/testosterone at home.

When I must enter premises where carry is LEGALLY prohibited, I store gun and spare mag in a lock box cabled to a secure part inside my vehicle.

When I want to enter premises where No-Carry signs are posted - which in Florida have no force of law - I just walk in, carrying concealed.

Most of the time, a "No Firearms Allowed" sign is a rule - not a law.

If you do it right, nobody should ever know you are carrying, but if they do figure it out, you will be asked to leave the premises.

If you refuse, you can be charged with trespassing - as I understand it.

The specifics are going to change by location.

You are correct - about Florida. There is a statutory list of prohibited places. Signs in other places do not have force of law. But if made and asked to leave, one better do so or they can be arrested for armed trespass. Signs do have force of law in some other states. I believe Texas is one of them.

I carry everywhere I am legally allowed. When I have to go to the courthouse or other prohibited places I either let the wife do it and I lock my EDC in a lock box inside the vehicle which is usually parked as close to the front door as possible.

I carry everywhere. Legal or not. The only place I don't carry is where I have to go through a metal detector.
In some locations the metal detectors have been upgrade and are more sensitive tha they used to be.

I have some steel plates and screws in my lower right leg. Been there over 20 years and I've been in/out of the courthouse a few times. For several years the metal detectors did not pick up that metal in my leg. The last time I had to go into the courthouse they did. I got to step aside and have the handheld unit waved around my lower right leg.

The courthouse streets in Seattle, Washington is notorious for assaults, and auto prowls. It's dangerous for people on jury duty as well as employees. It's difficult to walk on the sidewalks because of all the tents and campers. I use to live outside of Tacoma most of my life but have since moved to Wyoming. My wife and I consider ourselves political refugees.
As to what to do with your gun if you have to leave it, one poster here suggested unloading it and securing it with a chain & padlock through the trigger guard under the seat. Cover it with a rag. Take the ammo with you or secure it somewhere else. Very cheap and easy to do.
