I've come to the conclusion that the flexing 'safety trigger' on M&P pistols performs no useful function. You can't accidentally catch clothing or a drawstring on any part of the trigger except the tip of the trigger and pulling on the tip will deactivate the trigger block. So unless I'm missing something (entirely plausible) the 'safety trigger' in no way enhances the safety of the pistol.

When practicing under pressure from a timer, I don't always get my 'ideal' grip and find that my resulting poor trigger finger position can pull on the trigger without deactivating the trigger block. The result is not getting off a shot or getting off a delayed shot with a jerk as the safety finger drops into the frame.

So I see a downside to the 'safety trigger' and no up side.

Please educate me.
