Dawson makes great sights. If you order the Perfect Impact type and the don't shoot to POA, then they will send you the proper height.

I just put a Dawson FS on my Pro. Also have one installed on my 686 and that's why I bought another one for the Pro. I hesitated on this after reading all the horror stories of removing that FS. Figured for $39 I'm going to try it. I put some Kroil on it for a few days before getting up the courage to attack it. Started with the little hammer that comes with my punch set. Yeah right. Got a bigger hammer and had to switch to the steel punch. Wack wack, hey it moved an iota. That's all it needed. Moved right out after a few more light taps. Just remember, it goes out left to right towards ejection port, goes in right to left, the way it came out.

Installing the Daswon did require some minor filing. They tell you where to do it. Follow their directions. After a bit of gentle filing it drove right in. Don't need some special sight pusher. Just takes some nerves to beat on that sight. It did cost me $17 for needle files at Lowes, not $250 or more for some pusher. If I can do it anyone can.

Good to hear... some have been less fortunate in installing sights on their own due to how hard they are pinched in. I myself prefer using a sight pusher... me and the hammer/punch method has seen better days... not as steady as i use to be...lol. So if i spend a little on a sight pusher, its far cheaper than replacing a buggered up slide in my old azz opinion. And if you`re spending $250 bucks on a sight pusher, it better be able to do more than one brand of gun. I`m also a machinist, so i can build a sight pusher pretty easy and quickly.

Glad to see you mentioned which way the sights go in and out when removing/installing...

I use Dawson sights on 1911 and M&P pistols. They are great products. You will need to do a slight amount of fitting to install them since they are made slightly oversize to insure that they will not be too loose when installed.

Don, did any of your Dawson`s come with a set screw in the rear sight...??? Reason i ask is, the ones without the set screws are often oversized so they fit tighter without having a set screw to lock them in place. I have some dawson`s that DO have set screws, and they slide right in place super easy...almost scary easy.

Ditto`s on the Dawson quality... unmatched by any in my honest opinion.

What type of sight pushers do you recommend.

Any type that dont lock down inside of the slide rails. (like MGW products do)
MGW type models tends to ruin slides, usually with marring & cracking them.

I have one of these, it works...PERIOD. This is also the guy i bought mine from.

Contact him, and MAKE SURE it will work in your application... which i`m pretty sure it will.

Make sure you use a quality sight pusher... these M&P sights are a bear to get off.
I would spray some thin lubricant on the sight dove tail, let it sit over night standing upright so the oil will soak into the dovetail.

Hey everyone, does anyone have a Dawson Precision front fiber optic sight on there M&P? Would like to know how you like it, and maybe see a picture.

I have a new 2.0 5in model and i think i would like to try a fiber optic front sight. I have heard they have excellent customer service and they look like a quality piece. Thank You for the advice.

I recently started buying dawson sights, they are steller quality...! You wont be disappointed. I put a front fiber optic on my M&P 9L ported performance center, love it. Wish i could post a pic, but i dont have a camera, and i dont know how to post pics anyway. Maybe someone else can chime in with a pic of theirs. All i can add to what your looking for, is that dawson`s products are flat out awesome.
