That's gonna vary somewhat depending upon your ammo selection. Rule of thumb, most pistols are point of aim/point of impact (dead on) to 2 inches or so high at about 25 yards. At closer ranges, the bullet tends to strike below the point of aim.
25 yards may be a little too far for a first time zero I suggest about 10-15 yards and as long as you have tight groups low move it back 5-10 more yards IMHO-Jason
Most gungihts are going to be under 12 feet, POI/POA is irrelevant in a dynamically evolving situation. Say 2 inches high at 25 yrds, that would extrapolate to 1/4" or less at typical distances encountered on the streets.
Irrelevant to most if they have to use their weapon in a SD situation
